What are Human Rights? Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. Who is entitled to human rights? How do we get our human right? We are all born equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible. Who governs our human rights? The United Nations The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 December 1948, was the result of the experience of the Second World War. With the end of that war, and the creation of the United Nations, the international community vowed never again to allow atrocities like those of that conflict happen again.
